The 2018 event benefited the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Child & Family Center. The Rice Center provides a temporary home and therapeutic setting for many of Illinois’ young children in foster care with severe mental health and behavior challenges. The residential care and treatment center helps kids ages 6 to 14 move forward and work towards a goal of transitioning to a stable, loving home.

KaBOOM!'s mission is creating active, safe play spaces for America's youth. In essence, this means they construct playgrounds around the United States in under-served neighborhoods so the local youth have play spaces. In 2016, the WCB team partnered with KaBOOM and a local family to build a playground in the Hermosa neighborhood of Chicago. It was the first active space for children of the neighborhood.
